Chase United Cards: Bonus for Adding an Authorized User

If you picked up a Chase United card in the last three months, now’s the perfect time to add an authorized user—even if it wasn’t clearly stated in your application.

Lately, I’ve noticed a small but welcome change in the offers for Chase United credit cards. When you apply, Chase is now advertising an extra 10,000 Ultimate Rewards points when you add an authorized user to your account. That’s double the old bonus, which used to be 5,000 points.

I had an interesting experience with this myself. When I applied for my United card a little under three months ago, I didn’t see this bonus mentioned anywhere in the offer. But recently, I figured I’d give it a shot—I went ahead and added an authorized user. To my pleasant surprise, the full 10,000 points posted to my account.

Another helpful detail: Chase doesn’t have a minimum age requirement for authorized users. That means you can technically add your child to your account, even if they’re very young, and still qualify for the bonus.

It’s a nice little perk that’s easy to overlook, but 10,000 points is nothing to sneeze at. If you’re signing up for a Chase United card (or already have one), it’s worth considering.
